Contemporary Singing Lessons in Nashville, Tennessee

"Susan Anders is a Godsend. I came to her vocally lost and she patiently helped me find my voice again. She is a wonderful teacher and always brings out the best in my voice." Bert Stratton
"Susan is my guru for singing. Not only has she helped me to open up and find my voice, but also how to use and manage my voice as a professional singer. She is the consummate teacher and a phenomenal listener." Brad Cole

Whether you are a complete beginner, an experienced singer, or somewhere in-between: if you're looking for a Nashville vocal coach who can take you to the next level and beyond, please read on. I've been coaching singers for over 30 years, and during that time I've helped thousands of professional and budding singers in all contemporary vocal styles: rock, country, jazz, musical theater, R&B, singer-songwriter, blues, and folk. My teaching method is effective and comprehensive, tailored to work with your style of music. That means, for example, that if you sing gritty blues rock you will not come out of voice lessons sounding like a Broadway singer—or vice versa!
If you don't have a really great vocal warm up, I'll make sure you have one. If you're a beginner and want to move slowly, I'm with you. If you're a pro who wants nitty gritty polishing so you'll stand out in a crowd, I can do that. If you have a big audition next week and just want to work on that, no problem. If you've trashed your voice and need to get back on track vocally, I'll make sure you do that safely. I always try to do what's appropriate for where you are as a singer.
"I'm lucky to have fallen into Susan's hands right after I moved to Nashville. In addition to being a vocal health expert, Susan explains technique in a way that works for me, and applies that to my own particular style. I can tell the difference she has made in my voice! Phoebe Elliot

"I hadn't sung in several years when I was cast in a musical where I was required to be a soprano. (I'm an alto.) Susan gave me some wonderful exercises that increased my range easily up to a high G and strengthened my belt-mix, too! I'm now auditioning regularly in Nashville and getting great responses." Holly Butler

In private sixty minute sessions you'll learn:
All the essentials: breathing, support, placement, relaxation, projection, pitch dexterity, how to increase your vocal range and volume, diction, how to warm up, and general care and strengthening of your voice.

All the polish: interpretation, vocal style, phrasing, belting, improvising, tone, runs, performance skills, mic technique.

All the extras: how to harmonize, studio/performance preparation, how to find or create a band, music theory and sight singing, building a repertoire, songwriting, and goal defining.

Private singing lessons are $70/hour ($65/hour if you purchase four lessons at a time), beginners to pros welcome. Bands or friends wishing to study together are also welcome and may split the cost. Lessons are in Inglewood, on the northeast side of Nashville, Tennessee. I Skype lessons, too.
